Green is back at the island of Puerto Rico after the impact of Hurricane María. While some nature encounters sites are under rehabilitation, some natural areas are apt to be seen and explored whether because of their beauty or their natural renovation progress.

We are pleased to inform some of the nature encounters recreations available in Puerto Rico as follows:

Some Nature Encounters Attractions and Activities in Puerto Rico:

1) El Yunque National Forest- some sightseeing and recreation sites available as of the date of publication of this article:

a) La Coca Falls sightseeing spot (Route 191)
b) Scenic drive on Route 988
c) Puente Roto sightseeing spot (Route 988)
d) Angelito Trail- limited area for sightseeing and hiking (nearby Route 988)

2) Guided Mountain Bike Tours at Carabalí Rainforest Adventure Park

Visitors may admire the foothills of El Yunque rainforest during guided mountain bike tours in Carabalí Rainforest Adventure Park. You may contact the park’s office for information about the required minimum of persons for a tour.

3) Punta Yeguas Sightseeing Cliff Site

Visitors may schedule a guided hiking tour on Punta Yeguas Trail, where they may see Punta Yeguas vegetation under rehabilitation after Hurricane María. Visitors may admire beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, especially at the cliff site at the end of the trail.

Regular tours are held on the last Sunday of each month. Upon availability, groups of 10+ persons may schedule a tour to be held on a weekday or Saturday.

4) San Cristobal Canyon Sightseeing Tours

Subject to prior reservation, you may participate in any of the following Para La Naturaleza’s sightseeing and hiking tours:

a) Discover the History and Nature of Cañón San Cristobal Tour, and

b) The Canyon from Above Tour

5) Bird Watching and Bird Count Activities

Subject to availability, you may schedule bird watching activities to engage in bird counts along with Para La Naturaleza’s guides.

For information about bird count locations and activities’ description, you may see Para La Naturaleza’s website or contact its Reservations Office. The bird count locations may change from time to time.
